The types of information collected on the CrewSeek website include, but are not limited to: name, email address, phone number, location, job titles, qualifications, vessel information and maritime licensing information. Where we do ask for credit card numbers, we never store this information. Instead, we pass it directly and securely to a credit card authorization gateway using an encryption protocol that meets or exceeds 256-bit Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) encryption. We may also collect payment using PayPal, Google Checkout or similar payment systems. We do not store any passwords used to access these systems.

  3. HOW WE USE INFORMATION

    We use some of the information you provide about yourself to create a public profile. We do not include any personally identifiable information in the public profile. However, you may choose to include personally identifiable information in the “biography” field of your profile, solely at your discretion. This field, should you choose to complete it, will be visible only to “premium members.”

    We do not share any personally identifiable information with third parties, except as necessary to charge a credit card or other online payment account for a premium membership subscription or other paid service or product.

    We use email addresses to answer the email we receive, and to send notification to our users when they are contacted by other users. This is done by sending an email from one of our own email accounts, to the user without revealing the email address of either user. Occasionally, we may also send email to inform our users of news, events, new features, or other information concerning CrewSeek user accounts. Users may choose to opt out of receiving these emails by selecting the appropriate preferences in their account settings. We do not use our user’s email addresses for any other purpose and are not shared with or sold to outside parties.

    You can register with our website if you would like to post your profile in order to find crew for your boat, or to find work on a boat. In order for your profile to be posted on our website, we require that you provide us with certain information. The exact information required varies, depending on the type of user account. The required fields are clearly marked on the pages where this information is entered. If you are not comfortable submitting the required information, simply log out and stop using the service. Should you wish to cancel your account, you must first log in to your account and submit a request using our contact form.

    Finally, we never use or share the personally identifiable information provided to us online in ways unrelated to the ones described above without also providing you an opportunity to opt-out or otherwise prohibit such unrelated uses.
